FEMA approves Wyoming for six weeks of Lost Wages Assistance Program (LWA) payments

It is important that we be able to provide timely payments to you for your benefits, and in doing so, are making some changes. Therefore, as of 05/31/2024, you will no longer be able to file your weekly continued claims for payment over the telephone using the automated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. You will be able to file your continued claims online at wyui.wyo.gov by logging in and clicking on Continued Claim > File Continued Claim.

CHEYENNE – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has informed the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS), that all six weeks of the Lost Wages Assistance program (LWA) payments have been approved.

FEMA previously approved DWS funding requests and payments have been issued for the benefit weeks of:

August 1, 2020
August 8, 2020
August 15, 2020
August 22, 2020

DWS will issue retroactive payments for weeks ending August 29 and September 5 (weeks five and six) with today’s payment batches. Claimants who qualify should begin seeing the remaining payments in their accounts late this week or early next week.

LWA was a temporary provision established after the expiration of the $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, a part of the CARES Act. Other provisions of the federal act do not expire until December 26, 2020, including Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.
