3. How to file your claim
You must complete the Claim for Wages form online. When you enter your initials and click “Save,” you are agreeing to three important things:
- Honesty: You swear that everything you’ve written is true.
- Permission to Collect: You authorize the Department to collect the money on your behalf.
- Negotiation Power: If the Department can’t get the full amount, they may try to settle for a partial payment to ensure you get something.
Note on Settlements: If the Department negotiates a lower amount than what you asked for, they will notify you. You have 10 days to object in writing if you aren’t happy with the deal.
