CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is pleased to announce the three recipients of the 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion award. From Glenrock, Transmission Distribution Services (TSD Construction) and Short Powerline Service, LLC, both earned the Gold Medallion in the small employer category.
Concordant, LLC, of Laramie, earned the Platinum Medallion in the small employer category.
“The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the only veterans hiring award at the federal level,” says Robin Sessions Cooley, DWS Director. “Its criteria allow for the highest level of recognition for employers who are committed to veteran careers, including recruiting, employment and retention.”
The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 directed a program to recognize employers of all sizes for their investments to recruit, employ, and retain veterans. HIRE Vets Medallion Awards are awarded by employer size: large employer awards for employers with 500 or more employees, medium employer awards for employers with more than 50 but less than 500 employees, and small employer awards for employers with 50 or fewer employees. Within each of the three employer categories, there are two levels of awards: platinum and gold.
Ed Ohrablo, a veteran himself as well as program manager for the HIRE Vets Medallion award program in Wyoming, agrees. “These employers set an example for other employers of the importance of prioritizing and encouraging successful veteran hiring and retention, signaling to veterans that an employer is committed to and supports our nation’s heroes.”
The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is an annual process, and any business can apply, regardless of previous award submissions. The 2023 award period opens on January 31, 2023, and submissions close April 30, 2023. Wyoming companies of all sizes are encouraged to apply for this award; please contact the nearest Wyoming Workforce Center and speak with one of the center’s business representatives.
