CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Workforce Development Council (WWDC) will hold its next quarterly meeting virtually on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting will focus on key updates regarding the workforce development landscape in Wyoming, including Governor Mark Gordon’s strategic vision for the future of Wyoming’s workforce systems, the Wyoming 2023 performance report on the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title 1 program, and exciting developments in Wyoming’s innovative workforce strategies.

Agenda highlights include:

  • Governor Mark Gordon’s Vision for Wyoming’s Workforce Needs: The Council will receive updates on the state’s workforce strategy and how it aligns with Governor Gordon’s priorities.
  • Wyoming Innovation Partnership: Discussion on ongoing innovation efforts aimed at creating a more dynamic and sustainable workforce in Wyoming through collaboration to align education and workforce development.
  • WIOA Title 1 Performance Report: The WWDC will review the 2023 WIOA program performance data to assess progress and areas for improvement.
  • Action Items: The Council will consider proposed updates to the WWDC bylaws and vote on the procurement process for selecting the WIOA one-stop operator and Title 1 service provider.
  • Funding Request Consideration: The Council will review and vote on one funding request for the Wyoming Next Generation Sector Partnership Academy, which fosters collaboration across industries to build a future-ready workforce.
  • Next Generation Sector Partnerships Update: John Melville will provide insights into the future of Next Generation Sector Partnerships in Wyoming. The Council will also hear about the impact of these partnerships, which span healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and hospitality/tourism sectors, with new partnerships currently in discussion.
