Initial Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims in Wyoming decreased over the year, while the number of continued weeks claimed increased. As of January 2026, continued claims have increased from prior-year levels for 21 consecutive months, or nearly two years. In fact, monthly continued claims were higher in 2025 than in any other year since 2019, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic.
There were 2,174 initial claims filed in Wyoming in January 2026, down 71 (or 3.2%) from January 2025.
The total number of continued weeks claimed increased from 13,518 in January 2025 to 14,222 in January 2026 (an increase of 704, or 5.2%). There were 4,731 unique claimants in January 2026, an over-the-year increase of 841, or 21.6%.
