Verify Your Identity
To help protect your identity and your unemployment claim, the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) requires you to verify your identity before unemployment insurance benefits can be paid.
Identity verification helps make sure you are the person filing the claim and helps prevent someone else from using your information to apply for benefits.
Choose One Way to Verify Your Identity
DWS offers two secure options for identity verification:
ID.me
oder
Login.gov
NOTE: You only need to use one. You do not need to verify your identity with both ID.me and Login.gov.
If you already have an account with one of these services, you can use your existing account.
Whether you already have an ID.me or Login.gov account or need to create one, start the identity verification process through WYUI.
This is important because starting from WYUI connects your completed identity verification to your unemployment claim. If you go directly to ID.me or Login.gov instead, DWS will not receive your verification and your status may remain pending.
If You Are Filing a New Claim
If you are filing your first unemployment insurance claim and have not yet verified your identity, you will be given the option to verify your identity at the end of your initial claim.
Choose ID.me OR Login.gov and follow the instructions to complete the process.
If You Already Have an ID.me or Login.gov Account
You do not need to create another account.
Start from WYUI, choose the identity verification service you already use, sign in to your existing account and follow the instructions.
Already have accounts with both? Choose whichever service you prefer. You only need to complete identity verification with one.

Why Is Identity Verification Important?
Your identity must be verified before unemployment insurance benefits can be paid. If your identity verification is incomplete, an issue will remain on your claim and can hold up payment.
