1. I was injured on the job. What should I do?

  • Report the injury to your supervisor immediately—no later than 72 hours after it happens.
  • Seek medical care if needed. You can get treatment even without a claim number. Just tell the provider it’s work-related.
  • File a Report of Injury with Workers’ Compensation within 10 days. Fill it out completely, preferably with your employer, and don’t forget to sign it.
  • After your report is received, DWS will assign a nine-digit claim number. Give this number to all healthcare providers so they can bill Workers’ Compensation directly.

2. Where are Workers’ Compensation field offices located?

DWS has field offices across Wyoming to make it easier for workers and employers to get help.

3. My employer says I have to see their doctor. Is that true?

  • Yes, you may need to see the employer’s doctor.
  • You can also choose your own primary healthcare provider.
  • Once you select a provider, you cannot change without either:
    • Notifying Workers’ Compensation in writing, or
    • Receiving a referral from your current provider.

4. Where do I send my Workers’ Compensation injury report?

You can submit your report using any of these methods:

Mail:
Wyoming Department of Workforce Services
Workers’ Compensation Division
P.O. Box 20207
Cheyenne, WY 82003

Email: dws-wcintake@wyo.gov

Fax: (307) 777-6552

5. Where should I send other Workers’ Compensation correspondence?

Use the same contact information above.

  • Tip: If you have a claim number, write it in the top left corner of your document so it goes directly to your assigned claims analyst.

6. How do I check the status of my Workers’ Compensation case?

You have two options:

  1. Online: Use the PIERS system (Providers, Injured Workers, and Employers Reporting System) to view claim information anytime.
  2. By phone: Call the main office at (307) 777-7441, or contact your assigned claims analyst directly.
