The Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program is a federally funded initiative designed to help individuals receiving Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits return to work quickly and successfully. RESEA combines eligibility assessments with personalized reemployment services to support job seekers in identifying career goals, improving job search outcomes, and connecting with workforce resources.
Why RESEA Matters
The RESEA program aims to:
- Reduce the duration of UI claims by helping participants find employment faster.
- Strengthen UI program integrity through timely eligibility assessments.
- Connect participants to workforce services and other resources that support reemployment; and
- Serve as a gateway to additional career and training programs.
Participation in RESEA is required for UI claimants selected for the program. Failure to attend scheduled RESEA appointments may affect ongoing eligibility for UI benefits.
What to Expect in RESEA
Individual Assessment
Your RESEA journey begins with a one-on-one meeting with a RESEA specialist. During this session, you’ll:
- Review your current eligibility for UI benefits.
- Discuss your work history and job search efforts; and
- Identify any barriers you may be facing in your job search.
Reemployment Services
Based on your assessment, you may receive:
- A personalized Reemployment Plan tailored to your skills and interests;
- Career counseling and labor market information;
- Resources for job search support, including resume help, interview preparation, and employer connections; and
- Referrals to relevant programs and training opportunities that support long-term employment goals.
How You’re Selected
Claimants receiving UI benefits are identified for RESEA participation through a selection process that considers the likelihood of exhausting benefits before finding employment. If you are selected, you will receive a notification with instructions on scheduling your RESEA appointment. RESEA is not a voluntary program.
Your Responsibilities
To continue receiving UI benefits, selected participants must:
- Attend all scheduled RESEA appointments;
- Engage in the individualized assessment and development of a reemployment plan; and
- Follow through with agreed-upon activities and job search requirements.
Partnering with the Workforce System
RESEA is part of Wyoming’s broader workforce development system. Participants are connected with additional services through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Wagner-Peyser Employment Services, ensuring access to comprehensive job search and training support.
