How do I know if I’m eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation services?
Great question—because the first step to moving forward is knowing what support you can count on.
When you apply, a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor will work with you to understand your needs by reviewing medical or psychological information. But you’re not on your own—they’ll walk you through the process, explain what’s needed, and talk through the eligibility criteria with you.
Here’s the good news:
If you’re already receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you’re automatically considered eligible for services.
Even if you’re not receiving SSI or SSDI, you may still qualify if:
- You have a physical or mental disability;
- That disability creates a real barrier to getting or keeping a job;
- There’s reason to believe that with the right support, you can find meaningful, successful employment;
- You need help preparing for, getting, or keeping a job that matches your unique strengths, goals, and choices.
In other words, if you’re ready to explore what’s possible for your future, VR is here to help you build the path.Take the first step—reach out to your local office and let’s see how we can support your next move.
