Workforce Integration & Training

Hiring employees with disabilities is good for business and helps organizations that receive federal funding meet employment requirements.

We offer free training to help you successfully bring employees with disabilities into your workplace. Topics include:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act 101: Know your rights and responsibilities.
  • Business Benefits: Learn how employees with disabilities boost productivity and safety.
  • Modern Workplace Accessibility: Why younger employees are asking for accommodations—and how to respond.
  • Federal Compliance for Wyoming Employers: Guidance for colleges, cities, and counties.

Our team can meet with your hiring department to explain how we help recruit, onboard, and retain the right employees. We also work with you to provide any assistive technology or equipment needed to help your staff succeed.

Tax and Other Benefits

Check the IRS website for details on tax benefits for businesses that hire people with disabilities.

Disabled Access Credit

  • Get a tax credit for 50% of eligible expenses over $250, up to $10,500 per year (credit reduces your tax bill by up to $5,000).
  • Designed for small businesses that spend money to make their spaces accessible.
  • Eligible small businesses have 30 or fewer full-time employees or $1 million or less in revenue and can claim this credit every year they make qualifying improvements.

Barrier Removal Tax Deduction

  • Deduct up to $15,000 per year for expenses to remove barriers that limit mobility for people with disabilities or the elderly.
  • Applies to businesses of any size and can cover costs that usually must be capitalized.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

  • Earn a credit of up to 40% of the first $6,000 in wages for new employees from targeted groups.
  • Credit applies once the employee has worked at least 120 hours or 90 days.
  • For veterans with service-related disabilities hired after May 25, 2007, the first-year wage cap increases to $12,000.

ADA and Workplace Accommodations

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), employers must provide reasonable accommodations to help employees with disabilities succeed at their jobs. Accommodations depend on the person and the job, but some common examples include:

  • Assistive Technology: Tools like screen readers, magnifiers, or speech recognition software.
  • Flexible Work Schedules: Adjusted hours or work-from-home options for medical appointments or treatment.
  • Job Restructuring: Shifting or modifying tasks to match an employee’s abilities.
  • Telecommuting: Working remotely when the job allows.
  • Modified Equipment: Ergonomic chairs, adjustable desks, or other adapted tools.
  • Sign Language Interpreters & Accessible Communication: Ensuring all communication is understandable, including large print, electronic formats, or interpreters.
  • Medical Leave Adjustments: Extra leave or modified leave policies for disability-related needs.
  • Job Coaching or Mentoring: Guidance to help employees learn tasks and thrive in their role.

These are just examples—every employee’s needs are different. Employers and employees should work together to find the best solutions that let the employee do their job effectively.
