Wyoming Council for Women Announces 2026 Jan Torres Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Winner.

CHEYENNE, WY –The Wyoming Council for Women (WCW) announced today that Bria Hammock, owner of Westward, Go Slo, and Hammock Fine Art in Cheyenne, will be the 2026 recipient of the Jan Torres Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

“It is an honor to witness how Wyoming women lead and strengthen our communities. The stories of this year’s nominees remind us just how vibrant and essential our female-led business landscape is,” said WCW Entrepreneur Task Force Chair, Annie Fletcher. “One in particular stood out because of her commitment to building a creative ecosystem that blends fine art, commerce, and community heritage. We are proud to honor Bria Hammock as the 2026 recipient of the Jan Torres Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.”

Hammock joins a distinguished cohort of women entrepreneurs recognized not only for their contributions to Wyoming’s economy but also for the passion, creativity, and purpose that drive their work. The award ceremony honoring Hammock is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12 at her gallery, Westward, 1601 Capitol Ave, Cheyenne, WY. Members of the public and media are welcome to attend.

The Jan Torres Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award honors woman-owned businesses in Wyoming and shines a spotlight on the vital contributions female entrepreneurs make to the state’s economy. Named in tribute to former WCW board member Jan Torres, whose vision and dedication helped establish and grow the award, it celebrates innovation, leadership, and impact. This year, the Council received a record group of nominations from 23 accomplished women entrepreneurs across Wyoming.

Hammock is a Wyoming-based artist and creative leader with over 25 years of experience in graphic design and marketing. Ten years ago, she pioneered the Wyoming lifestyle apparel market by launching Go Slo, an e-commerce brand that fills the gap for authentic, Wyoming-inspired clothing for women. Her entrepreneurial journey expanded into the fine arts, where her contemporary interpretations of Western wildlife and landscapes have earned regional acclaim.

Today, Hammock operates three interconnected ventures: Go Slo, Hammock Fine Art, and Westward, a gallery and boutique in downtown Cheyenne. Westward serves as a vital creative hub, showcasing Hammock’s work alongside Wyoming-made goods and pieces from other regional makers.

Beyond her retail success, Hammock is deeply invested in the Wyoming community. She serves on the board of the Wyoming Workforce Development Council as the Advocacy Chair and the Arts Cheyenne board, acts as a Visit Cheyenne Trailblazer, and is currently launching The Modern West Project, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to documenting contemporary agriculture and ranching through art and storytelling.

“Running a creative business in Wyoming requires a unique kind of grit and vision,” said Fletcher. “Bria has not only built a successful business, but she has also created a space where creativity can thrive in Wyoming and where the entire community feels comfortable being part of it.”
