Driving Workforce Success: Collaboration & Leadership

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) plays a vital role in advancing key initiatives championed by the Governor, as well as fulfilling important state and federal mandates. To achieve this, DWS collaborates with various agencies, councils, and commissions that provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction.

Councils & Commissions: Guiding the Mission

Several commissions and councils help shape DWS’s policies and programs:

  • Medical Commission
  • Mining Commission
  • 职业安全与健康管理局委员会
  • Unemployment Insurance Commission
  • 怀俄明州妇女委员会
  • 怀俄明州劳动力发展委员会

Each of these bodies is composed of individuals appointed by the Governor and operates under authority granted by Wyoming law.

Workforce Development: A Statewide Commitment

Under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), every state is required to have a Workforce Development Board responsible for directing federal, state, and local funding to workforce programs. In Wyoming, this role is fulfilled by the Wyoming Workforce Development Council (WWDC). The WWDC not only advises DWS but also provides guidance to Wyoming’s 18 Workforce Centers, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to workforce development across the state.

By working together, these councils and commissions help DWS create a stronger workforce, drive economic growth, and support Wyoming’s businesses and workers.
