The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services provides Risk Management to policy-holder companies.

Risk Management is a study that evaluates each individual company and quantifies its past, current and projected financial losses using company specific Workers’ Compensation data. By utilizing this data, these studies advise employers on benefits, methods, costs and potential savings. Risk Management studies may also involve the coordination of other resources needed to assist a client.

Specifically, a Risk Management Analysis will focus on where a company is experiencing injuries and how those injuries will impact the company financially. The Risk Management Specialist will visit your facility and present the Risk Management Analysis findings to management and employees. The consultant will conduct a multi-media presentation outlining problem areas. Note: The services are free of charge to all Wyoming Workers’ Compensation policyholders.

You may request one of our Risk Management Services using the Risk Management Request form.

Risk Management Services

Risk Management services are offered through Wyoming Workforce Services – Workers’ Compensation Safety and Risk. This specialized team provides multiple services for the employers in the state of Wyoming.

Risk Management Analysis (RMA)

A Risk Management Analysis is a free resource provided to all employers with an active Workers’ Compensation policy. A full RMA provides your company with an individualized presentation that covers:

  • What your EMR is and how it is calculated
  • Your company’s current base rate(s)
  • Premium History
  • Risk Locations
  • Injury History with Data Trending
  • Claims Management
  • Discounts – How to Apply & Potential Savings
  • Fraud & What to Do
  • Policy Contact Information

This service provides the employer’s senior management staff (chief executive officers, chief financial officers, human resources, safety coordinators, managers) with an understanding of their Workers’ Compensation account.

During the RMA, the following items are discussed:

  • Overview of Risk Management
  • EMR, base rate and premium rate explanation
  • Injury trending specific to the company
  • Claims management techniques
  • Discount Programs

A Risk Management Analysis gives the employer ideas on how to be proactive in preventing injuries and methods to reduce costs after an injury has occurred. An RMA will focus on where a company is experiencing injuries and how those injuries will impact the company financially. The Risk Managers will present this information by visiting the employer’s facility, phone conference or video conference.

Loss Run Reports

Loss run reports are a great claims management tool, as they provide a detailed list of claims for a given time period. The loss run report will show injury date, claim number, claimant name, claim status, injury type, injury description, medical expenses and indemnity expenses.

You may run a loss run report any time from the PIERS website.

The report includes the following data fields:

  • Date of injury
  • Claim number
  • Claimant name
  • Claim status
  • Injury type
  • Injury description
  • Medical costs
  • Medical reserves
  • Indemnity costs
  • Indemnity reserves
  • Case total

Risk Management services are free of charge to all Wyoming Workers’ Compensation policy holders located in Wyoming.
