Wyoming is required to submit the modifications to the Plan under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The Plan ensures compliance with Public Law 113-128. WCW Opens Application Period for Woman Entrepreneur Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHEYENNE \u2013 The Wyoming Council for Women (WCW) is seeking nominations for outstanding female entrepreneurs across the Cowboy State for recognition with the annual Jan Torres Woman Entrepreneur Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWyoming\u2019s women have accomplished incredible feats, and we want to encourage all women to celebrate their success or recognize other great women,\u201d said Natalia Duncan Macker, chair of the Wyoming Council for Women. \u201cWe need help finding these amazing women and telling their stories. We are asking everyone to nominate women business owners in their communities \u2013 or to nominate themselves. The WCW is excited to have the opportunity to share these stories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WCW Entrepreneur Task Force chair Annie Fletcher said, \u201cWyoming is home to some of the most innovative, resilient, and community-minded entrepreneurs in the country. Women across our state are building businesses, creating jobs, and strengthening their communities every day. This award is an opportunity to celebrate their leadership, recognize their impact, and shine a light on the incredible talent right here in Wyoming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find the nomination form <a href=\"https:\/\/dws.wyo.gov\/de\/dws-division\/councils-and-commissions\/wcw\/honors\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees must be women who own, co-own, or operate a Wyoming-based business that has operated continuously for at least three years. Nominees may nominate themselves or be nominated by another individual. Along with recognition on the WCW website, social media, and statewide media outlets, the award will be presented at a recognition ceremony in the city where the recipient\u2019s business is located, unless otherwise determined. These standards, which align with federal guidance and manufacturer recommendations, are now included in Chapter 15 of the<em>&nbsp;OSHA \u2013 Wyoming Oil and Gas Well Drilling, Servicing, Special Servicing, Completion, Plugging, and Abandoning of Wells<\/em>&nbsp;rules. Now entering its third year, the series continues to deliver timely, relevant training at no cost to participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 series begins on Jan. 20 with&nbsp;<em>Maximizing Your Talent Pool: The Untapped Benefits of Hiring People with Disabilities<\/em>, presented by Callie Davis of DWS\u2019s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. This opening session will help employers understand the compelling business and cultural advantages of broadening their talent pipeline, including tax benefits, increased retention, improved workplace morale, and practical strategies for implementing reasonable accommodations. Real-world examples from Wyoming employers will illustrate how disability-confident hiring can strengthen teams and expand talent pipelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the year, DWS will offer a variety of sessions that address essential workforce topics. Participants can expect training on supporting career exploration, building strong safety and risk practices, launching or expanding apprenticeship programs, deepening understanding of key labor programs and protections, leveraging digital tools for hiring and business growth, and improving communication and collaboration across a multigenerational workforce. Each session is designed to provide actionable guidance that individuals and employers can apply immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a state, we are at our best when everyone has the knowledge and confidence to succeed in their work,\u201d said Elizabeth Gagen, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. \u201cOur mission is to empower Wyomingites with practical tools and real-world insight. During the matchup between the University of Wyoming vs. University of Nevada, the two Relay programs will join forces to showcase the power of communication and connection that reaches across state lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaboration coincides with a historic moment for the University of Wyoming, as the retirement of a former Cowboy quarterback\u2019s jersey is set to draw fans from Wyoming, New York, Nevada, and beyond. To simplify the process, DWS has launched a new online system specifically designed for&nbsp;<strong>Wyoming employers and organizations interested in starting or expanding Registered Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new platform makes it easier to apply for and manage apprenticeship funding through a&nbsp;<strong>federal apprenticeship expansion grant (SAEF3)<\/strong>. Employers can now complete applications, track progress, and manage grants all in one place, saving time and streamlining communication with the DWS Apprenticeship Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also introduces two new funding opportunities:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>one-time $10,000 incentive<\/strong>\u00a0for Registered Apprenticeship Programs, and\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>$5,000 incentive<\/strong>\u00a0for Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, both designed to help employers launch or grow cutting-edge training opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBefore this new system, our apprenticeship team relied on manual tracking systems that were inefficient and time-consuming,\u201d said&nbsp;<strong>Shaye Moon, Business Training and Support Program Manager.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cNow, employers can easily apply for funding, manage apprentices, and monitor results, all from one secure online platform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses can get started by creating a partner account in the new system,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apprentiscope.com\/signup\/C8g450tL4LXUoVQOVzNm\/e0fxWwldIUVagZgKFQYD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ApprentiScope<\/a>. Select \u201ccreate partner account\u201d to set up your profile.
